Severe Weather Plan

The school has a severe weather plan which activates when there is a risk of closure because of snow. Schools are expected to make a decision ON THE DAY, taking into account the condition of the school site, the availability of staff (who travel considerable distances to school) and the forecast for the day ahead. Parents will be informed by email and on the school website if school is to be closed for health and safety reasons.

Breakfast club parents can ring ahead to check that there is someone in school to receive children. There may be occasions when a closure decision can be made sooner, for example, due to a heating failure, but many closure decisions, made in advance, cause children to lose a day’s schooling unnecessarily.

Although any course is inconvenient for families, the health and safety of the children and the staff must come first.
