Year 3 and Year 4

Welcome to Year 3 and 4

Welcome to Year 3 and 4! It's the start of a brand new year and we have lots of exciting things happening...

Coming soon!

We are currently planning some exciting events and trips for the year ahead.

Year 4 are going to be going on a trip as part of their Roman topic and will confirm that date very soon.

Year 3 are planning on visiting St Peter's Church as part of their RE lessons.

Year 3

Year 3 are settling into Key Stage two very well and are enjoying learning lots of new things-especially about the Awesome Egyptians! They are also taking great pride in wearing their Self-Manager badges.

Digital Anomaly Board

You may have noticed outside our Year 3/4 entrance our digital information board. School information will be displayed here so please check regularly. There is also a wide variety of informative video clips shown throughout the day, covering issues such as 'healthy eating' and 'exercise'.

Learning Mentors

Just a reminder that we have our learning mentor, Mrs Bell, who is on hand daily to help with any problems or queries you may have. She is always available and ready to help in anyway she can.

Homework

All children are given spellings on a Friday and are tested the following Friday.

Children should also be reading at home. We encourage children to read at least three times each week at home (ideally a little every night). If your child is a confident reader we would encourage you to hear them read and then extend their understanding through questioning.

For example; 'Why did the character say/do that?' 'What do you think may happen next?' If you struggle to get your child to read, try offering them magazines, comics or anything that interests them.

We also expect children to practise their times tables at home. In particular:

Year 3- 3x, 4x and 8x tables

Year 4- up to 12 x 12

Visiting Artist

Chris Howlett, a local artist and teacher at Cullercoats Primary is coming to visit Year 3 & 4 again this term to teach the children new and exciting art techniques.
