    School Uniform Rationale

At Collingwood, we believe that all children should wear school uniform in order to promote our unique school identity and to engineer an culture of belonging and inclusion. We feel that it is important that we adopt a fair and equal approach towards all children and that we all live by the same rules. The uniform has been designed to be smart, simple and easily accessible. Health and safety also plays an important part in our decisions as regards uniform.

All uniform is available from Emblematic and not from school office

However, many children wear grey jumpers and cardigans which can be easily purchased from local supermarkets at a cheaper cost.

We also ensure that we have a stock of new/nearly new uniform in our school pantry. This is free to any of our families or new starters; so please don't hesitate to get in touch if you need help with this.

Medication Information for Parents and Carers

As a result of legislation we need to adhere to the following procedures regarding the use of medicines in school.

    Inhalers

All inhalers will be sent home on the last day of term in July ready for new intake and class changes in September.

All inhalers must have the correct pharmacy label stating:

    • Pharmacy details
    • Address of pharmacy
    • Telephone number of pharmacy
    • Name of child/patient
    • Maximum single dose
    • Maximum daily dose
    • Expiry date

    Labels MUST NOT state

    • As required
    • As directed

Please ask your pharmacy to complete this.

If children are using inhalers more than 3 times in a week, parents will be notified and advised to speak to a doctor.

    Prescribed medication

Prescribed medication will only be given in school if stated four times daily.

If medication is prescribed for three times daily, then we are not able to administer unless the prescription clearly states that the medication is to be given with/before/after food.

Medicine will only be accepted in the original container as dispensed by the pharmacist, clearly stating the prescriber’s instructions for administration and expiry date.

    Non-prescribed medication

Non-prescribed medication will not be given in school.

    Carrying medication

No children should carry medication of any kind to school. Parents/Carers must sign all medication in at the office.

    Unused medication

Any unused or expired medication must be collected by parents/guardians at the end of each course or each term.

There is no legal or contractual duty on school to provide staff to administer or supervise a child taking medication. This is a voluntary role.

It is the parent’s responsibility to ensure we have all the information we require. (Please consult your GP if in doubt).
