Collingwood Primary School
We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure the best for all of our children this year. Staff will be on hand on the yard in the morning before school and at the end of the day so are happy to chat with you, to pass on messages or to make an appointment if you would like to discuss anything in detail.
Teaching Staff:
Miss Milonas, Mr Adams, Mr Perkins, Miss Sheridan
Support staff:
Miss Cooper, Mrs Rush
Autumn Parents Evenings:
Details will follow once arrangements have been made due to COVID.
Your child will also receive two reports throughout the year to inform you of their progress.
PE in Year 5
5JM = Wednesday and Friday
5AP = Wednesday and Thursday
Please ensure children have the appropriate, labelled kit (yellow t-shirt, black shorts & sandshoes/trainers) and all jewellery is removed on the day. Staff are unable to remove this & it will prevent your child from doing PE.
Uniform
Please ensure that your child follows the school uniform requirements:
Boys: plain grey/black trousers, white polo shirt, grey pullover or school sweatshirt. Flat black trainers or school shoes.
Girls: grey skirt or grey/black trousers, white polo shirt, grey cardigan or school sweatshirt, Flat black trainers or school shoes. There is also a summer dress in yellow.
Leggings are not permitted.
Homework and Reading:
Reading is of high priority to us in KS2 and each child will be supplied with an individual reading book tailored to their level, which they will bring home and back on a daily basis. We request that children read a minimum of three times a week (with this being checked in class on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday) but have found that children who read a little each night are the ones who make the most progress.
Children will also receive weekly spellings on a Friday to be practised and returned by the Friday.
Children will also be given Maths homework on a Monday which is linked to learning in class. This should be returned by the Friday.
Mathletics:
We subscribe to http://uk.mathletics.com/ whereby children can practise fun maths skills at a level tailored to them. Each child will be issued with a Mathletics password, which will be stuck in the front of their reading diary.
Attendance and punctuality
We encourage you to ensure your child arrives promptly for 8:55am. This is when school starts. Children who arrive after this must go to the office where Mrs McVay & Mrs Smith will send them to class. Mrs Bland and Mrs Grant will also be available. If your child is going to be absent please ring the office asap on 0191 6053378.
