Art and Design

At Collingwood Primary School, we believe in providing opportunities for each child to reach their full creative potential. We aim to immerse our children in a range of visual, tactile and sensory experiences to enable them to become confident young artists equipped with a range of artistic skills and an individual style. All of our children explore the work of a wide range of focus artists and/or movements to evoke inspiration. Sketchbooks are provided from Year 1 to Year 6 to allow children to record, revisit and review their ideas, as well as being able to experiment and express themselves freely.

Art can lead children into careers such as the following; a professional artist, an art gallery curator, an art therapist, an art teacher, an illustrator, an architect or a fashion designer. The beauty of Art is that it can also be practised as a hobby and not just a career. A hobby which is great for relaxation, mental health and stimulating creativity.
