My name is Mrs Bland and I would like to welcome you to our new school website. I am very proud to be able to share with you the wonderful opportunities and developments at Collingwood Primary School where I have been headteacher since January 2018.
As with the rest of the country and the world, we have been rocked by the Covid 19 pandemic. However, we remained open throughout the lock-down to provide child-care provision for key worker and vulnerable children. We opened our doors to Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 pupils from the first of June. We then reopened our educational provision for Years 2,3,4 and 5 from the 29th June and managed to give places to all children who wanted to come back to school.
We are now busy preparing for a full reopening in September and are very excited about our plans to get routine, learning and fun back on track safely for our pupils. We have decided to offer transition visits for Years 1 to 6 during the training day on the first of September with all children welcomed back full-time from the 2nd. Our new starters in Reception are visiting before the summer and will, alongside Nursery children, be able to take up their places very early in the autumn term. The risk assessments and policies are available on this website and all details are included in the newsletter section.
This is a large and vibrant school where children are enthusiastic and motivated to achieve. The children are at the heart of every decision we make as we strive to ensure that they are happy, confident and that the opportunities that are provided for them are relevant to their needs - both now and in the future.
Through our evolving and engaging curriculum, we ensure that children can foster a passion for learning and curiosity that will help to develop high aspirations and a lifetime of memories. We believe in ensuring that all children experience quality first teaching where individual talents can be spotted and nurtured. Collingwood has a long history of excellent outcomes for pupils and good Ofsted judgements. We ensure that all of our children make rapid progress and we provide excellent outdoor, sporting and IT facilities. Our exciting curriculum is focused on ensuring high standards and providing first-hand experiences where many experts regularly visit school and children engage in educational visits and residential experiences. We are well known for our extra-curricular provision with a free daily breakfast club and many after school clubs such as: football, hockey, drama, dance, choir, homework, story club, cookery, art, science and French. We foster positive links within the local area and take part in many sporting and community events.
I hope that this new website will give you as much information as possible about our school, the staff and the many activities that our children enjoy through our aspirational curriculum. It will grow over time as we add more information, but can never replace the first-hand experience of coming to visit us. If you have any suggestions to make, or would like to see us at work, please don’t hesitate to contact us at the best school in the world!
