Collingwood Primary School
Mathematics is a creative and highly inter-connected subject that has been developed over centuries, providing the solution to some of history’s most intriguing problems. It is essential to everyday life, critical to science, technology and engineering, and necessary in most forms of employment. A high-quality maths education therefore provides a foundation for understanding the world, the ability to reason mathematically, and a sense of enjoyment and curiosity about the subject.
At Collingwood Primary School, our Maths curriculum aims to develop independent and passionate mathematicians. Children will build a positive, resilient mathematical mindset with fluency of calculations, problem solving and reasoning at the core. We plan using the NCETM Progression Maps in partnership with The White Rose Scheme of Learning and Small Steps. Staff use a range of practical resources, including web based tools such as Mathletics and TTRS, to encourage and engage our children with maths.
